The Poplar and Willow Genetics Working Party of the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO) convenes an International Poplar Symposium (IPS) every four years. This series of gatherings provides a international forum for presenting and discussing recent scientific findings on a wide range of topics related to poplar and willow. The last such symposium - IPS-VI - was held, very successfully, in Vancouver in 2014. See report on this website.
A call has been issued for proposals to host the next symposium - IPS-VII - in 2018. Proposals are to be submitted by April 1, 2016 to the coordinator of the IUFRO Working Party, Dr. Ron Zalesny of the U.S. Forest Service (rzalezny@fs.fed.us). By May 1, 2016, a selection committee will announce its decision, which will be noted also on this website.
See the full call for proposals which includes points to be considered in the selection.
