Background and History
The Populus and Salix Clone Directory for Canada is a searchable database containing poplar and willow germplasm (pollen, seedlot, progeny or clone) data. In various forms, the directory has been in existence for more than 30 years. The hard copy format was last updated in 1986. In 2004 PWCC's Genetics and Breeding Working Group contracted Paprican to make it electronic and add approximately 1000 new entries provided by forest companies, governments and private industry, for a total of over 6600 entries. The updated database was converted to SQL format for the PWCC website. Over the period 2015 to 2018, the PWCC's Genetics and Breeding Working Group worked with Sencia Canada to update the directory so that it is now available and searchable in Microsoft Access format.

The database includes a total of 26,419 records with 25 searchable column headings, which are listed and described in the attached table.
Many organizations have contributed data to the directory and their kind agreement to make the information available in this format is gratefully acknowledged. Contributing organizations are listed in the attached table and within the database.
